چکیده
Measurements of the follicle cells of the thyroid during different phases of regeneration of the tail in the scincid lizard. Mabuya striata. indicate a decrease in thyroid activity during the wound-healing phase and an increase at the end of the blastema phase.

Intestinal helminths of four species of skinks (Mabuya) (Sauria: Scincidae) from southern Africa.
Intestinal helminths are reported from four species of scincid lizards from southern Africa: Mabuya occidentalis, Mabuya spilogaster, Mabuya striata and Mabuya variegata. The helminth fauna consisted of one species of Cestoda, Oochoristica truncata and five species of Nematoda, Abbreviata paradoxa, Maxvachonia dimorpha, Parapharyngodon rotundatus, Spauligodon petersi and Thubunaea fitzsimonsi. ...
متن کاملComparing alignment methods for inferring the history of the new world lizard genus Mabuya (Squamata: Scincidae).
The rapid increase in the ability to generate molecular data, and the focus on model-based methods for tree reconstruction have greatly advanced the use of phylogenetics in many fields. The recent flurry of new analytical techniques has focused almost solely on tree reconstruction, whereas alignment issues have received far less attention. In this paper, we use a diverse sampling of gene region...
متن کاملAscorbic acid in the normal and regenerating tail of the house lizard, Hemidactylus flaviviridis.
The concentration of ascorbic acid (AA) and the histochemical distribution of the vitamin in the normal and regenerating tail of the gekkonid lizard, Hemidactylus flaviviridis, have been investigated. In the regenerating tail of the lizard the AA concentration almost doubles during wound healing and becomes fivefold during differentiation. However, it falls almost to the normal level during the...
متن کاملFirst data on the molecular phylogeography of scincid lizards of the genus Mabuya.
A 487-bp fragment of the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene was sequenced in 26 species of the circumtropical lizard genus Mabuya and used to analyze phylogenetic relationships within the genus. The species from Africa and Madagascar formed a monophyletic group relative to the included Asian and South American taxa. The Malagasy species included (M. elegans, M. cf. dumasi, and M. comorensis) did not a...
متن کاملRegeneration of reptilian scales after wounding: neogenesis, regional difference, and molecular modules
Lizard skin can produce scales during embryonic development, tail regeneration, and wound healing; however, underlying molecular signaling and extracellular matrix protein expression remains unknown. We mapped cell proliferation, signaling and extracellular matrix proteins in regenerating and developing lizard scales in different body regions with different wound severity. Following lizard tail...
